Satkosia Gorge stands as a magnificent geographical formation where the Mahanadi River has carved its way through towering hills of the Eastern Ghats. The region serves as a unique confluence of the Deccan Plateau and Coastal Plains of India, creating a diverse ecosystem. Its tropical forests, riverine islands, and rocky escarpments provide a natural habitat to a wide range of flora and fauna.
The gorge and its surrounding forests are home to endangered species like the gharial crocodile, Indian skimmer, and Indian tiger. The tranquil flow of the Mahanadi, framed by green hills, makes it one of Odisha’s most photogenic destinations.
